Per the Standards & Practices of late-1970’s television relating to “violent acts”—and Jane Seymour’s contract—Serina’s death was “hammed up” to its nadir in BATTLESTAR PONDEROSA’s “Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II.” Lording over these proceedings is the Voice of Doom himself.

The dubious, one-season 1978 CE science fiction cult classic, Battlestar Galactica, differs from most science fiction of decade. This difference, where advocates purport the show to be “about family,” seems to be a recurring argument used by both its apologist fanatics and scathing critics. Writer Harlan Ellison® noted this facet succinctly by his coining of this disparaging titular portmanteau—Battlestar Ponderosa—connecting two of the then-popular Lorne Greene-lead productions together across two seemingly disparate television genres.

With that particular “family friendly” note in mind, I created the following social media post to tie into Mother’s Day:

As with any fish-out-of-water story, the crew of this misbegotten Discovery find that they themselves are as anachronistic as their 23rd century ideals.

Buoyed by Katee Sackhoff’s appearance in “The Mandalorian,” intellectually challenged click-bait sites began regurgitating nonsense “news” bits, asking all unimportant questions such as, “Has Anyone Contacted Katee Sackhoff About The Revival,” “Is it a Reboot or a Continuation,” “Everything We Don’t Know About Battlestar, But We’re Demonstrating our Ignorance as a Listicle,” and, you know, septic system filler of its ilk.

Over 50 years earlier, we were warned about the destruction of both reason and ethics with pervasive technology. Science fiction just missed the mark on how willingly we allowed it into our lives.

Imagine a world where technology allows you to view the inner most thoughts, feelings, and desires of those around you.
